About the book

Fenn and the Little Lost Boat begins at the water's edge, where a small boat has come untethered and drifted to a place it does not belong. Fenn finds it there, a little lost thing bumping quietly against the reeds, and decides to carry it home. That is the whole shape of the story, and it is enough.

The book moves at a river pace, unhurried and warm. There is no great danger and nothing to fear, just the simple, steady feeling of noticing something that needs a hand and choosing to help. Fenn lifts the boat carefully, finds the water again, and sets it right. It is the kind of small kindness that does not ask for anything back.

Fenn and the Little Lost Boat is a gentle picture book about kindness and helping, written for ages 3 to 6. It is the sort of story that suits a quiet afternoon, a lap, and a few slow minutes together. Short sentences, warm painterly scenes, and a plot that resolves softly give little ones a story they can follow all the way to the last page without rushing.

This is Book 2 in the Fenn's River Days series from Lantern Path Books, our independent Australian picture-book imprint. The series follows Fenn through ordinary days by the river, days full of small moments, friendship, and the kind of gentle goodness that does not need explaining. Each book stands on its own and can be read in any order.

Paperback, 24 pages, and well suited to the slow part of any afternoon.
