About the book

Fenn and the Foggy Morning begins at the river, where the world has gone soft and white overnight. The familiar bank, the reeds, the far shore have all been swallowed by fog, and the morning is quieter than usual. Fenn is there anyway, small and still, looking out into the grey. There is nothing to fear, but there is something to meet, and the story follows that gentle meeting.

This is a picture book about quiet courage, the kind that does not shout or hurry. Fenn does not charge into the fog. Instead, the morning unfolds one careful step at a time, and the way forward becomes clear slowly, as fog always does clear, when you give it time. The pages breathe. There is room to look, and room to wait.

Fenn and the Foggy Morning is written for ages 3 to 6, and it suits the kind of child who sometimes feels uncertain when things look different from expected. It does not promise that the fog will vanish quickly. It shows, in a calm and unhurried way, that you can still find your path even when you cannot see very far ahead. The river is there. The morning is there. You just have to go softly.

It is a picture book about being brave without making bravery sound loud. Short, warm sentences and painterly river scenes give the story a gentle, grounded feeling. Read it slowly, in a calm voice, and let the fog do what fog does on the page.
