What is Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check?
It is a simple, well-loved routine for learning a spelling: look at the word, say it aloud, cover it, write it from memory, then check against the original. The grid gives a child three or four goes at each word, so they notice the tricky letters themselves. A few words a day, done calmly, works better than a long sitting once a week.
