Free printable spelling worksheets, made your way

This free spelling worksheet generator turns any list of words into a clean, ready-to-print sheet, for a whole class or a single child. Type in this week’s pattern words, topic vocabulary, or a child’s personalised list, choose the style, and a fresh sheet is ready in a click.

It makes the three formats teachers reach for most: the classic Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check grid that builds correct spelling through recall, a numbered spelling test sheet with an optional word list for marking, and a sentence sheet that moves children from spelling a word to using it.

  • No sign-up, no email, no cost. Make and print as many as you like.
  • Your words, your list. Pattern words, common-exception words, topic vocabulary, anything.
  • Three styles from one list. Practise, test, then apply, without retyping.
  • Print or save as PDF. Run off a class set, or keep a PDF for next week.

Spelling worksheet generator: common questions

Is the spelling worksheet generator really free?

Yes. Every spelling sheet you make here is free to print and use in class or at home, with no sign-up, no email, and no limit on how many you make.

Do I need to create an account or give my email?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. Your spelling list is never saved or sent anywhere, and you never need an email to make or print a sheet.

What kinds of spelling sheets can I make?

Three: a Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check practice grid; a numbered spelling test sheet (with an optional word list for marking); and a sentence sheet where children write each word in a sentence. Type your list once and switch between them.

What is Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check?

It is the classic spelling practice routine. The child looks at the word, says it, covers it, writes it from memory, then uncovers and checks. The grid gives each word a printed copy to study and three columns to practise, so it builds correct spelling through recall rather than copying.

Can I use my own spelling list?

Yes. Type any list, one word per line or separated by commas: this week's pattern words, topic vocabulary, tricky or common-exception words, or a personalised list for one child. The sheet is built from your words exactly as you type them.

Can I print it or save it as a PDF?

Yes. Use the print button and choose your printer, or pick Save as PDF in the print box to keep a copy. Print one for a child or a set for the whole class.
