Download the “After the Storm” Repair Toolkit (PDF)“Big feeler” is a warm word for temperament, not a diagnosis or a label. These are gentle ideas for ordinary storms, not medical or behaviour advice. If the storms feel bigger than ordinary, your GP or child health nurse is a good first call.
Who made this?
The toolkit behind this quiz translates published research on co-regulation and rupture-and-repair (Tronick, Gottman, the Harvard Center on the Developing Child; all cited in full inside), and every technique has been used in frontline youth-work practice with children aged 5 to 9, including children with additional needs.
Why name the type?
Because “my child explodes” feels like a verdict, and “my child is a Thunderstorm feeler” feels like a weather report. Same child, same storm, but one of them comes with a forecast: how the feeling tends to arrive, what it needs mid-storm, and which words actually land afterwards. Big feelers are not broken. They feel everything at full volume, and the same wiring that makes Tuesday hard makes them fierce friends and enormous lovers of the people they trust.
