Free Bedtime Printables for Toddlers
A bedtime printable makes the wind-down something your toddler can see and follow. Here's our free, cosy checklist, plus more calm sheets to print.
A bedtime printable sounds like a small thing, a sheet of paper on the wall. But for a toddler, it does something quietly powerful: it turns the wind-down into something they can see and follow. Instead of bedtime being a series of instructions from a grown-up, it becomes a familiar path the child can help run themselves. And little ones love being the one who knows what comes next.
Here are our free bedtime printables for toddlers, what's on them, and how to get the most out of them.
What a good bedtime printable does
The best bedtime sheets aren't complicated. They simply:
- Make the order visible. A picture of each step, in the same sequence every night, so your toddler can see where the evening is going.
- Let your child take part. A box to tick, a star to colour, a step to point at. That little bit of doing gives a sense of control right when the day is winding down.
- Stay low-pressure. No score, no "well done or else". It's a gentle guide, not a chart your toddler can fail.
- Repeat easily. Print it once, use it every night. The familiarity is the whole benefit.
Our free Cosy Bedtime Routine Checklist
Our main bedtime printable is the Cosy Bedtime Routine Checklist, a warm, one-page wind-down your little one can tick or colour as you go. It lays out a calm, same-every-night order:
tidy away · a little wash · pyjamas on · brush teeth · a warm drink · choose tonight's story · lights down low · a cuddle and a goodnight
There's also space to add your family's own special step, like a song, a window-check for the moon, three good things from the day, so it fits the way your evenings already work. It comes in both A4 and US Letter, with soft, gentle bedtime artwork (a little moon, a few stars, a small lantern).
It's completely free. To have it sent to you, pop in an email and we'll deliver the printable straight away. Sign-up is for adults only (we never ask anything of your child, and we collect no child's data) and you can unsubscribe any time.
More free sheets for calm evenings
The checklist isn't the only one. Our free printables shelf has a small collection of calm, no-email-needed sheets that suit the end of the day, including:
- Oliver's Bedtime Routine: an eight-step picture wind-down for ages 2 to 5: bath, scarf, brush, book, lamp, breathe, settle, sleep.
- Three Good Things: a gentle bedtime page to write or draw three good moments from the day, even tiny ones. A lovely, settling way to finish.
- Calm-Down Cards: simple print-and-cut cards for the evenings that end in a wobble: concrete little actions to help notice a big feeling and slow it down together.
- Brushing Teeth Chart: colour a star for morning and night, to make one fiddly step feel friendly.
Everything on that shelf downloads as a PDF with no sign-up at all. They're just there to help.
How to use a bedtime printable well
A few small things make these sheets work better:
- Put it where your toddler will see it. Low on the wall by the bed or bathroom, at their eye level, not yours.
- Let them lead. "What's next on our chart?" hands the routine to your child. Following their finger down the steps is half the calm.
- Keep it light. If a step gets skipped on a hard night, that's fine. It's a guide, not a rulebook. Shrink the routine rather than dropping it.
- Laminate if you like. A wipe-clean sheet and a dry-erase marker let you tick and reset each night, though plain paper and a crayon work just as happily.
For the thinking behind all this, why a bedtime routine helps explains the gentle idea, and calm bedtime routine ideas for toddlers shows how the checklist fits into a whole cosy evening.
Pair it with a calm story
A printable sets the path; a gentle story is the loveliest stop along it. Our free checklist actually comes from a book, Hazel and the Cosy Night, a warm bedtime picture book that follows a little hedgehog through her own step-by-step wind-down. For the very youngest, Oliver Gets Ready for Bed walks a small owl through the same soft rituals, one by one.
You don't need to buy anything to use the printables. They're a gift to keep. But if you'd like a calm story to read while you follow the checklist, those two are made for exactly this hour.
A gentle note on signing up
We keep things simple and safe: the email sign-up is adults only, with double opt-in (you confirm before anything is sent), no child data, no spam, and an unsubscribe link in every email. The free sheets on the printables shelf need no sign-up at all. Print them, hang them low, and let your toddler help run the cosiest part of the day.
A gentle routine idea to enjoy together, not medical, sleep, or behaviour advice. Every child and family is different.
